The Jewellery room occupies the first 64sqm of the 257sqm Partridge boutique situated in the heart of the Queenstown retail district.

The space is a response to the rawness and beauty of the surrounding Central Otago landscape. In small ways it looks to the epic materiality of the mountains and lakes that surround it.

Taking cues from Queenstown’s mining history, the interior is intentionally dark and earthy, reflecting on the region’s mineral-rich subterranean past.

A brushed engineered oak floor was selected for its grainy tactility and was used to wrap the ceiling, floor and walls creating a monolithic feel to the space. This is paired with matching solid oak joinery and custom furniture, meticulously routed to create a thinly ribbed texture. These crevassed lines catch the light in varying ways to highlight the timbers natural grain, creating a sophisticated, layered materiality. This mineral earthy darkness is cut with polished stainless steel details, creating a tension between materials that are rich and raw and details that are restrained and refined.

By elevating these simple materials through precision craftsmanship, the space achieves a sense of quiet, enduring luxury.
