Free advanced timber design software

Access practical tools developed in partnership with industry to help designers, engineers and developers explore timber solutions with greater confidence.

TDA Table Name Cards

Tools to support better timber design

Timber Unlimited and the Mid-Rise Wood Construction Programme (MRWC) have partnered with leading software developers to make their practical timber design tools more accessible to industry.

Free access to these tools reduces barriers to exploring timber solutions, supports better-informed decisions from the earliest stages of a project, and helps build confidence and capability across the sector.

SPEC Toolbox

Free structural timber design toolbox for engineers

In response to the Timber Structures Standards (NZS AS 1720.1:2022) and the need to provide the industry with the tools to implement these new standards effectively, Timber Unlimited and SPEC Toolbox (previously CLT Toolbox) have collaborated to provide a free version of their advanced design software to New Zealand engineers

We believe our partnership with SPEC Toolbox will empower engineers to design sustainable, resilient timber structures, ultimately making advanced timber design accessible to all.

Nezo (formerly V-Quest)

Free workflow-integrated carbon, cost and mass analysis tool

Nezo combines supercharged analytics with existing design workflows to give designers greater insight into material performance, sustainability impacts, and opportunities for improvement.

MRWC has partnered with Nezo to make a a free, fit-for-purpose version of their tool available to make it easier for NZ teams to understand material impacts as they design, and make confident, evidence-led decisions that support low-carbon outcomes, including timber and hybrid.

Inside the tool:

• Revit, SketchUp and ArchiCAD integration
• Automated material quantities
• Integrated cost, carbon and mass calculations
• Material comparison insights
• Benchmark library
• Carbon A1 to A3 LCA reporting
